Further changes to UK quarantine list
The UK government has announced that from the 5th of December, ‘high-value’ business travellers will be exempt from quarantine. The government has issued guidance stating the categories for those who will no longer need to self-isolate upon reentry to England, they are as follows:
- ‘High value’ business travellers
- Select performing arts professionals
- TV production staff
- Journalists
- Recently signed elite sportspeople
- This exemption will also apply to countries that are not on the travel corridors list.
It is thought the changes are to support the economy and jobs, and that with increased protocols in place, it should not increase the risk of cases rising.
From the 15th of December 15 all passengers arriving into England from countries not featured on the government’s travel corridor list will also have the option to take a test after five days of self-isolation, with a negative result releasing them from the need to isolate.
